Neil Patrick Harris Gets His Oscar Host Wish At Last

Neil Patrick Harris Gets His Oscar Host Wish At Last

The Academy has confirmed that Harris is moving up from Oscar performer to host.

Harris has also won four Emmys, but starring in a hit movie, David Fincher’s "Gone Girl," may have lent him the additional movie cred he needed.
Craig Zadan and Neil Meron are producing the show for the third time. Their last two Oscar telecasts delivered a ratings spike and the March 2, 2014 kudocast hosted by Ellen DeGeneres was TV’s most-watched entertainment event in a decade, with the biggest and youngest viewership since 2000 (more than 45 million viewers).  DeGeneres’s starry selfie was the most retweeted photo of all time with 32.8 million views.

While DeGeneres did well at the last Oscars, like many hosts was not eager to repeat consecutively.
