Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress — at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.
In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.
Tweetable Logline: 1972. A closet gay boxer will face the greatest fight of his life when an old sparring partner blackmails him into taking a dive.
Elevator Pitch: It’s “Brokeback Mountain” meets “Rocky.” In 1972, a young up and coming boxer, Kit is set for the fight of his career, his former boxing partner and best friend Vincent shows up unexpectedly to reveal he knows Kit is secretly gay and if he doesn’t take a dive in the big fight, he will reveal to the world his secret and bring him down, just as Kit did him five years prior.
Brent Harvey – Director
About the film: We wanted to tell a story that hasn’t been told before, yet everyone has experienced at one point in their life. When Professional Wrestler Darren Young came out, we had our story, a professional boxer who was in the closet in 1972, when it wasn’t accepted. We wanted to explore how a secret like that would not only affect his personal life, but his professional life. We all have been in the place Kit has in our lives, trying to find our identities in a world that isn’t always accepting or understanding of who we truly are.
Current Status: We are currently the fundraising and preproduction phase, we are also currently in negotiations with signing on crew members.
