One third nature
documentary, one third B-movie monster flick and one third romantic dramedy,
“Letters from the Big Man” is, if anything, a unique watch. That may
be the only way to describe a film attempting to pull off the first
true-to-life cinematic depiction of Sasquatch.
the promise of a hulking menace (or gentle giant) may be enough to grab
your attention, it’s the sweeping forest vistas and downstream dollies
that steal the show. “American Horror Story’s” Lily Rabe stars as a hydrologist
who sets out on a post-fire stream survey for the Forest Service in
southwestern Oregon. Rabe’s trademark tough, no-nonsense character gets into trouble when she suspects she’s being
followed but continues staunchly on her government appointed mission.
Enter Bigfoot. Is it a hallucination? Is it a secret-service agent sent to take her down? Or will the beast of mythic lore finally reveal itself to this estranged government hydrologist? Find out in our SnagFilms movie of the week, “Letters from the Big Man,” below. [Full disclosure: SnagFilms is Indiewire’s parent company.]
