Film & TV distributor The Orchard has acquired rights to “Meet Me in Montenegro” for the U.S. and Canada. The film premiered at TIFF this year, where it screened to sold out audiences.
Alex Holdridge and Linnea Saasen wrote and directed the doc-meets-fiction film, basing it on their real-life relationship and experience making a movie (they play fictionalized versions of themselves). The film features supporting performances from Rupert Friend (“Homeland”) and Jennifer Ulrich (“We Are the Night”).
According to Holdridge, “Montenegro” and The Orchard is a match made in heaven. Said the writer/director/actor: “Linnea and I are both thrilled to be working with The Orchard. We truly couldn’t have dreamed up a better group of creative, passionate and ambitious partners. To us their infusion of creative energy is the shot of adrenaline the U.S. film distribution world has been awaiting for a long time. It is the most exciting company in film distribution right now — bar none. We feel very lucky to be part of what they are launching this year.”
The film is slated for a 2015 theatrical release.
