'Twin Peaks' Is Officially Coming Back

It’s official. After many a rumor, “Twin Peaks,” the beloved ’90s cult series created by David Lynch and Mark Frost, will have nine new episodes set to air on Showtime in 2016.

Lynch will direct all nine episodes. It won’t be a remake but, instead, will be set in the present day continuing the storylines established in the first two seasons that aired on ABC between 1990 and 1991. Showtime will re-run classic eps ahead of the new season premiere.

Per Variety, “the story threads that will [be] picked up were ‘baked in to the last episode,'” and Mark Frost said that “the passage of 25 years will be an important element in the plot.”

Watch Lynch’s special video announcement below, and rest assured that this mystery, at least, has finally been solved.
