The trailer for Laura Poitras’ new Edward Snowden documentary, “CITIZENFOUR,” was released today ahead of tonight’s world premiere at NYFF.
Poitras was already several years into making a documentary about surveillance in the post-9/11 era when Edward Snowden reached out to her under the name “citizen four.” She, along with journalist Glenn Greenwald, flew out to Hong Kong for a series of tense encounters with the soon-to-be infamous whistleblower; the result is a film that offers a never-before-seen look into one of the most monumental moments in recent American history.
The film makes its world premiere tonight at the New York Film Festival. Check out the trailer below.
