Viko Nikci’s “Coming Home” is set to play at DOC NYC next month and Indiewire has gotten a hold of an exclusive trailer.
The documentary tells the story of a man named Angel Cordero, who returns home from a long stint in prison. In 1999, Cordero (then 25) was wrongfully convicted for a stabbing in the Bronx. Seven years later, a man came forward and confessed to the crime. Despite this, Cordero was kept in prison for his entire 13 year maximum security prison sentence.
The film follows Cordero as he experiences how the world has changed. The central event is Cordero’s attempts to reconcile with his daughter. Her feelings toward him are complex — she was just three years old when Cordero first went in to prison.
