Gregg Araki and Shailene Woodley discussed their new film “White Bird in a Blizzard” in a recent interview at the Soho Apple store with Indiewire’s Eric Kohn. Topics ranged from the theme of patriarchy to multidimensional characters and how Woodley felt the first time she watched “Mysterious Skin.”
If you want to check out an Araki film for the first time, or have a friend you’re fixin’ to introduce, “White Bird” might be the perfect fit — Araki said in conversation: “Of all my movies I guess it’s definitely — I don’t want to say ‘mainstream’… it has an accessibility to it.”
“Some ‘auteurs’ or some directors,” Araki said, “make the same movie over and over.” He added that he prides himself on trying different things and keeping people guessing on what he’ll do next.
