“The Life and Death of Tommy Chaos and Stacey Danger” might be described by a drunk person as a mash-up between “Blue Valentine” and “Jurassic Park.”
Indeed, in this short film by director Michael Lukk Litwak, a relationship does go south, and there are dinosaurs (with lasers). But what makes the short work is the universality of that feeling of excitement when a relationship begins, only to have it fade away when two people realize they’re not meant for each other. Or are they? The resulting short film is simultaneously absurdly hilarious and charmingly real, with a fun sci-fi edge to boot.
One additional element the film has going for it is the fantastic music, which comes courtesy of award-winning “Beasts of the Southern Wild’ composer Dan Romer. For a behind the scenes look at the making of the film, head here.
