Cinema Guild has announced it will become the exclusive Video On Demand distributor for Big World Pictures. Under this new partnership, Cinema Guild will handle the digital distribution for films released by Big World Pictures and make them available across all digital platforms, including nearly 100 million homes via satellite and cable VOD.
“Big World Pictures is undoubtedly releasing some of the best and most exciting films today, whether daring new work from contemporary filmmakers or classics of world cinema,” said Ryan Krivoshey of Cinema Guild. “We’re firm believers in the potential of the digital space, as a gathering spot for movie lovers, and as a place where independent and art-house films can not only exist, but thrive.”
The first film to be distributed will be an HD restoration of Eric Rohmer’s French romance “A Summer’s Tale” on December 19. Other upcoming titles include Nanouk Leopold’s award-winning “It’s All So Quiet,” Roberto Minervini’s Cannes selection “Stop the Pounding Heart,” Denis Côté’s drama “Curling,” Nana Ekvtimishvili and Simon Gross’ coming-of-age tale “In Bloom” and Martin Lund’s comedy “The Almost Man.”
“We couldn’t be more pleased about our partnership with Cinema Guild. Their taste is impeccable, and their focus on bringing US audiences the best in world cinema aligns perfectly with ours. We’re very much looking forward to partnering with them on our digital releases,” concluded Big World Pictures’ Jonathan Howell.
