Casting: Jamie Foxx & Benicio Del Toro Fall Into Harmony Korine's 'Trap,' Miles Teller Goes To 'New York' And More

Harmony Korine has slowly been inching towards bigger names and budgets, but even this is a surprise. Jamie Foxx and Benicio del Toro have signed on for the director’s next film, “The Trap.” Damn. Plot details on this one are being kept under lock and key, but it’s being described as a “revenge picture” and “gangster drama,” and production will begin next spring in Miami. Korine has also said it’s “next level shit.” And sorry Robert Pattinson fans, no word on whether the actor, who earlier this year revealed Korine was writing a gangster project for him (and we presume it’s this one), is officially on board. Uma Thurman is stepping into “Night And Fog.” An adaptation of Sarah Helm’s “A Life In Secrets,” Jay Hay will direct the true WWII story of Vera Atkins, “an intelligence officer for Special Operation Executive’s French Section who trained and dispatched hundreds of agents to Occupied France,” with the film focusing on her “interrogation of Rudolf Hoess, the notorious commandant of the Auschwitz concentration camp.” Production will begin next year. With a blockbuster tentpole to keep the lights on, Chadwick Boseman  AKA Marvel‘s Black Panther — can take on some indie fare to keep his acting skills honed. And he’s signed up for the thriller “Message From The King.” Fabrice Du Welz (“Alleluia“) will helm this one about “a man from South Africa who comes to Los Angeles to avenge the death of his sister.” [Variety]

A couple years ago, Marc Webb signed up to direct the drama “The Only Living Boy In New York,” but of course he’s been busy with “The Amazing Spider-Man” series, and thus there hasn’t been much movement. But it looks like things are happening now that Miles Teller has signed on to star. The movie will follow “a young man who learns that his overbearing father is having an affair. The son tries to stop it, but ends up becoming involved with the woman as well.” Webb is still figuring out whether this will be his next movie, or something called “The Gifted” at Fox Searchlight will come first, but it seems the filmmaker wants to do something different before stepping back into Peter Parker’s web. Rachel Weisz and Michael Shannon will star in “Maria Full Of Grace” and “The Forgiveness Of Blood” (hugely underrated) director Joshua Marston‘s next, untitled movie. The story will follow “Alice, the intriguing guest introduced at a dinner party hosted by Tom and his wife, celebrating his birthday. Tom increasingly believes he knows Alice but by a different name and a different biography, and suspects that she’s not there entirely by coincidence. The evening spins into a highly-charged reunion between a man in need of making a change in his life and a woman who desperately wants to stop changing.” Cameras will roll in early 2015 and we can’t wait.
