First Look: James Franco and Zachary Quinto as Boyfriends In Gus Van Sant-Produced 'Michael'

James Franco and Zachary Quinto are boyfriends in the first official photo (though we have admittedly seen many from Franco’s Instagram) for “Michael,” the true story of Michael Glatze, a San Francisco gay activist who somehow evolved himself into an ex-gay Christian fundamentalist.  Franco plays Glatze while Quinto plays one of his ex-boyfriends (Emma Roberts and Daryl Hannah co-star)

Based on Benoit Denizet-Lewis’s 2011 New York Times article “My Ex-Gay Friend,” the film is produced by Gus Van Sant and directed by newcomer Justin Kelly. We’re definitely curious how it turns out — and at this rate we should find out at some point in the first half of 2015 (maybe even Sundance?).
