FIRST LOOK: The Next Mexican Day Of The Dead Movie "Día de Muertos"

The success of Jorge Gutierrez’s The Book Of Life is opening the doors for other takes on the annual Mexican celebration. Coming in 2016, Carlos Gutierrez Medrano is directing a new feature, Día de Muertos  from his Metacube studio base in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Here’s the teaser:

The company has been developing this film since 2007 when they registered the title and screenplay. In 2012 the studio received funding from several sources that allowed production to begin.  Artist Samanta Erdini is doing storyboards and character design (that’s her work on the teaser poster below), joining a crew of 40 development artists in Mexico. An unnamed studio in France is doing the production.
