US distributor Sundance Selects has just picked up the North American rights to bring three popular Danish films produced by Zentropa (the Danish production company founded by filmmaker Lars Von-Trier and producer Peter Ålbæk) to domestic audiences. “The Keeper of Lost Causes,” “The Absent One” and “A Conspiracy of Faith” (currently in pre-production) are based on the bestselling books by Jussi Adler-Olsen, and were huge box office hits in the Danish market.
President of Sundance Selects/IFC Films Jonathan Sehring said, “Jussi Adler-Olsen’s thrilling Q Novels are a perfect fit for big screen adaptation. We are thrilled to be bringing this successful Danish trilogy to American audiences.”
The deal was negotiated between Susan Wendt, Head of Sales at TrushNordisk and Sean Beney, Manager of Acquisitions of Sundance Selects/IFC Films. In response to the acquisition, CEO of TrustNordisk Rikke Ennis said “We are very excited that our friends from Sundance Selects have picked up these three thrillers. With their great skills on theatrical releases and successful VOD-strategies, we feel confident that the films will reach a substantial audience in North America.”
