Roaring out of the gate with no shortage of praise from AFI Fest (read our rave review), J.C. Chandor‘s “A Most Violent Year” looks like it’s living up to the promise it had on paper all year. And now, until we (im)patiently await for the movie to arrive in theaters, a brand new clip is here that puts one of the film’s secret weapons on showcase: Jessica Chastain.
The actress plays Anna in the film, the wife of Oscar Isaac‘s Abel, and the daughter of the gangster whose business he took over. But she’s far from removed from the equation, and as you’ll see in this scene with David Oyelowo (earning his own acclaim this fall for “Selma” — review here), she quietly but firmly (and fabulously — that jacket!) makes it clear she will not be disrespected. And holy heck, yes, this scene practically simmers.
“A Most Violent Year” opens in limited release on December 31st. Watch below.
