Bennett Miller’s latest Oscar-hopeful has barely been out for one week in limited release but already is the recipient of an internet parody going viral. Unfortunately, the video in question does not involve Steve Carell‘s prosthetic nose —although I’m sure that’s coming soon. This one is called “The Fantastic Mr. Foxcatcher” and is courtesy of YouTube user Jonathan Hartwig. The vid dubs clips from Wes Anderson‘s “Fantastic Mr. Fox” with audio from the trailer for “Foxcatcher.” The films have nothing in common save for the fact that both titles contain the word “fox.” Get it? But the video works surprisingly well in the tradition of Anderson’s deadpan humor and is definitely worth a look.
Channing Tatum voices the role of Mr. Fox while Steve Carell voices Badger, and the chilly and somber soundtrack from “Foxcatcher” contrasted with the whimsical visuals of Anderson’s stop-motion classic is bound to get a few laughs.
“Foxcatcher” is in limited release now. It will expand to more cities in the coming months. Watch below. [HitFix]
