“I’d like to think you walk away from this thinking love conquers all, even immortality,” director Lee Toland Krieger (“Celeste & Jesse Forever,” “The Vicious Kind“) told USA Today about his upcoming “Age Of Adaline.” And while Christopher Nolan went to outer space to convey the same sentiment, Krieger is keeping it a bit more down to Earth with his upcoming feature.
Starring Blake Lively, Ellen Burstyn and Harrison Ford, the high concept fantasy follows a woman from the 1930s (Lively) who becomes ageless and immortal following an accident, but as a result has to watch her her daughter (Burstyn) age and grow old while she stays young. Who needs fancy wormholes? As Krieger explains, there are deep issues at the core of his film. “It sounds like wish fulfillment to look like Blake Lively forever. But she cannot grow old with anyone,” the director said. “In a world consumed with youth and vanity, there’s something very fresh and beautiful about a story focusing on the beauty of growing old.”
See how it all happens when “Age Of Adaline” opens on April 24th. Watch the trailer below.
