In just a few of days, “The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies” will be in cinemas everywhere. It’s the closing chapter in what is already widely considered one of the most unnecessary trilogies ever made. Perhaps nowhere is this more evident than in “The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug,” the nearly three hour middle entry of the series and focus of the latest Honest Trailer from Screen Junkies.
Even though it bears the name of the dragon in its title, the meandering, mostly forgettable movie (though that barrel chase sequence was fantastic) keeps Smaug frustratingly hidden for most of the picture. Instead, the cameo and flashback laden movie advances the plot very, very slowly and joylessly: Middle Earth has never been this uninteresting.
