Here’s an early Christmas present for us all: John Waters, who hasn’t graced us with a new film since 2004’s “A Dirty Shame,” is going to screen a new 74 minute video at the Marianne Boesky Gallery come January. What’s more? The video is called “Kiddie Flamingos,” and depicts a table read of Waters’ 1972 classic “Pink Flamingos” — except now it’s been recast as a children’s movie!
The screening will be part of a new Waters exhibition opening at the NYC gallery on January 9th. According to the Gallery, “Kiddie Flamingos” will see the X-rated content of “Pink Flamingos” “defanged and desexualized,” but still calls it “more perverse than the original.”
Not quite a full-on new Waters movie, but there’s no way we’re going to complain.
