Veteran TV Ken Tucker, who left Entertainment Weekly in 2013, has landed a new job as Yahoo!’s first TV critic, Tucker announced via his Twitter feed today.
It’s good news for those who’ve been waiting for Tucker to land a regular berth. But where the TV gods giveth, they taketh away. News also broke today that 25-year-veteran TV correspondent Bill Carter had accepted a buyout from the New York Times, just as Tucker did at EW last year. Carter, who wrote the classic The Late Shift on the Letterman/Leno wars, told the Huffington Post the decision was "agonizing and wrenching." Given the Times’ nagging issues with ill-informed TV writing, they can hardly afford to lose a reporter as great as Carter, whose replacement will have some mighty shoes to fill.
