With “Scandal” quite potential a season or 2 away from ending its run on ABC (creator Shonda Rhimes hinted at this recently, stating, “It’s not a 10-season or eight-season show. I’ve already decided how long that is and what that’s going to be”), I can imagine that the series cast members, specifically its star, actress Kerry Washington, must be prepping for life after “Scandal,” in such a competitive environment, especially for black actresses, given how little work (good work) there is for them, both in film and TV.
Wasghinton, who’s only other attachment is starring in an upcoming rom-com titled “Is He the One,” looks to be adding another feature film to her slate; the actress is in talks to star in the Warner Bros. thriller “Unforgettable,” which British director Amma Asante (who’s received lots of acclaim for her most recent feature, “Belle”) is attached to direct.
The “Fatal Attraction”-style project follows a man whose new wife is terrorized by his ex-wife. That’s all we know at the moment. Not even a word on which wife Washington will play – the new, or the ex. Also, no other actors are currently attached, so, assuming an agreement is reached with Washington, she’ll likely be the first.
Christina Hodson is writing the script, with Denise DiNovi and partner Alison Greenspan producing.
Lynn Harris is overseeing the project for Warner Bros.
