It’s a rather unnerving—and brief—clip, even as we watch President Underwood through the window of the plane and in the small window provided by Twitter for video viewing. The clip so far is only available on the Netflix show’s official Twitter page, but we’ll be sure to update as soon as it’s released elsewhere (for a better viewing experience).
The timing of the Tweet is three-fold: First, it helps remind Golden Globes voters how good “House of Cards” was in Season 2. They’re filling out their ballots right now, and it’s been far too long since its February release for everyone to remember it as vividly as more recent shows. The second reason is a little more subtle, but equally important for Netflix: It reminds viewers how much they like Netflix Originals, just as the latest project from the giant streaming service is set to launch. “Marco Polo” will be out in less than two weeks, and Netflix is bound to push every button it can to boost the chances of its $90 million production.
Lastly, Spacey, Wright and the rest of the campaign return for Season 3 on February 27, 2015, so a December 1st teaser release is right in line with marketing standards. Take a look at the video below, and let’s all hope Rob T. Jenkins isn’t a “House of Cards” fan.
A special message from the White House.
