Okay, since Jonathan Glazer has exactly three movies under his belt, putting together a tribute to his work might seem a little premature. But when you consider that those trio of movies have spanned thirteen years and there’s no telling when his next feature might come along, you begin to better understand why an appreciation of his work makes some sense. So let’s take a few moments, shall we?
Hello Wizard has cut together this five minute look at “Sexy Beast,” “Birth,” and this year’s “Under The Skin,” and if anything, it’s a reminder of how completely different each of Glazer’s films have been. From sunbaked noir to Kubrick/Polanski-esque grief drama to a completely singular take on sci-fi, the director has imprinted his own distinct genre vision in each film. Unlike other filmmakers ripe for supercuts, Glazer’s work cannot be easily matched-up. Instead, he’s shown an approach across three movies that treats each outing as a completely new canvas.
