Although her exciting film career is still relatively young, acclaimed indie darling Brit Marling (“Another Earth,” “Arbitrage,” “I Origins”) is already making the jump to television with the six-part series “Babylon.” Not only has SundanceTV released a new electronic-heavy trailer for the satiric drama, but they also announced last week the show will make its debut Thursday, January 8 at 10pm.
Created and executive produced by Academy Award-winning director Danny Boyle, “Babylon” centers on Marling’s Liz Garvey, an ambitious young American public relations professional who is brought to London to help usher the UK’s Metropolitan Police into the age of new media. Former “Murphy’s Law” actor (who can currently be seen on “The Missing”) James Nesbitt stars opposite Marling as the Metropolitan Police Commissioner.
The “Babylon” feature-length pilot, which Boyle also directed, aired in the UK back in February and will finally make its domestic debut on SundanceTV this January. Will the series be showered in the same critical acclaim that has met SundanceTV’s prestige hits “Rectify” and “The Honorable Woman”? American audiences will find out next month.
