Critics have been very warm to the film since its TIFF premiere. Eric Kohn of Indiewire writes that “While We’re Young” is a “perceptive ode to getting old.” Variety calls the “under-your-skin comedy” “bright and ebulliently dynamic,” writing that Baumbach channels “Hal Ashby/Mike Nichols/Paul Mazursky …more in spirit than in style.” The Playlist says the film “laces rich thematic elements with wonderfully drawn characters to create a picture that’s as genuinely hilarious as it is thoughtful…”
Baumbach’s most commercially minded film to date since he took off in 1995 with “Kicking and Screaming,” “While We’re Young” costars Adam Driver and Amanda Seyfried. Baumbach’s blisteringly brilliant “Squid and the Whale” screenplay was Oscar-nommed in 2006.
A24 releases the film in New York and Los Angeles on March 27, 2015 and everywhere April 2015
