Indiewire’s Awards Editor Peter Knegt will provide regular updates on the Golden Globe film races leading up to the nominations announcement December 11 at 8am ET.
The Best Actress race this year is weak in general, but of the five or six women likely to make this year’s Oscar race, all of them are competing in the drama race. Which leaves this category in an odd situation where anything could happen. By default, Amy Adams is probably the favorite for “Big Eyes,” but she just won last year and no one seems to be a particularly big fan of the film. So maybe Emily Blunt swoops in? Or they give Julianne Moore two Globes in one night, a la Kate Winslet?
Amy Adams, “Big Eyes”
Emily Blunt, “Into The Woods”
Helen Mirren, “The Hundred Foot Journey”
Julianne Moore, “Maps To The Stars”
Quvenzhane Wallis, “Annie”
Will Win: Extremely tough call, but we guess Emily Blunt, “Into The Woods” is the frontrunner.
Could Win: Amy Adams, “Big Eyes”
Should Win: Julianne Moore, “Maps To The Stars”
Shoulda Been Here: Jenny Slate, “Obvious Child”
