‘Citizenfour’ to Premiere on HBO the Day After Academy Awards

'Citizenfour' to Premiere on HBO the Day After Academy Awards

Laura Poitras’s “Citizenfour,” a behind-the-scenes real-time look at the Edward Snowden leak, is considered a shoe-in for an Oscar nomination, and maybe even a frontrunner for the Best Documentary prize. But even if it loses out on February 22, 2015 — to say, “Life Itself” — its consolation prize will be a television premiere on HBO the next day. The premium cable company will debut the documentary Monday, February 23.

HBO Films was a producer on the film, which has racked up honors from countless groups over the last year, including, just yesterday, sweeping the Cinema Eye Honors awards. Hopefully, our HBO Go watch histories won’t attract any NSA attention.
