Netflix isn’t “Horsin’ Around” when it comes to Will Arnett. The streaming service has ordered a new series starring the “Arrested Development” and “Bojack Horseman” actor, which will premiere in 2016.
That’s right. If you’re counting, this will be the third original Netflix series featuring Arnett. Netflix’s summary: “Set in the insular world of Venice, California, ‘Flaked’ is the serio-comic story of a self-appointed ‘guru’ who falls for the object of his best friend’s fascination. Soon the tangled web of half-truths and semi-bullshit that underpins his all-important image and sobriety begins to unravel. Arnett plays Chip, a man doing his honest best to stay one step ahead of his own lies.”
So Arnett will be playing a manipulative ego monster… Hmmm. Well. It’s nice to see him stretching.
But in seriousness, “Flaked” could be interesting. Netflix has yet to make any huge mistakes in its development of original series, and sticking with the talent it’s worked with in the past is a big factor in that. Arnett and Mark Chappell (“The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret”) co-created and co-wrote the series, and “Arrested Development” creator Mitch Hurwitz is on board as a producer. Eight episodes are set to premiere in 2016.
