Weinstein boutique label TWC-Dimension today has snapped up North American rights to Condé Nast Entertainment and Endgame Entertainment’s “Army of One,” a comedy based on this GQ article about Gary Faulkner, the man who went to Pakistan to find Osama Bin Laden with little more than a sword.
Nicolas Cage toplines as Faulkner in this semi-scripted project from Scott Rothman and Rajiv Joseph (“Draft Day”). “Army of One” will be directed by Larry Charles, the funny man behind “The Dictator,” “Bruno,” “Borat” and many episodes of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Seinfeld”; the pic will be produced by Dawn Ostroff and Jeremy Steckler of Condé Nast, Emile Gladstone at Emile Gladstone Productions and Endgame Entertainment’s James D. Stern. Julie Goldstein and Lucas Smith.
Bob Weinstein, who co-released “Paddington” with brother Harvey also under the Dimension label, hopes for an end-of-2015 release.
