Open Casting Call - 2 Male Leads in New Feature Film From the Producers of 'Pariah' & 'Yelling to the Sky'

FYI actors! A new feature project which the producers of 2 critically-acclaimed films (Dee Rees’ “Pariah” and Victoria Mahoney’s “Yelling to the Sky”) covered quite extensively on this blog, are attached to, is looking for actors to play 2 male leads. Details follow below:



From writers Jameel Saleem (“Manhattan Love Story,” “The Soul Man,” “Exit Strategy”), Andre Robbins, and award winning writer/director Bobby Yan, as well as the Producers of the highly acclaimed “Pariah” (Nekissa Cooper) and “Yelling to the Sky” (Diane Houslin), “Martian” is a story that explores complex issues of sexual identity within one man’s journey towards self actualization and success in the music industry.

Chris Mars: 23 – Male, African American: Young, good looking, charismatic and driven. After the tragic death of his father at a young age, he becomes the man of the house, but is determined to follow his dreams of becoming a musician. Riding a recent wave of success, he has to confront his sexual-identity and past, while being torn between his heart and what is “acceptable” for a mainstream artist. (Lead)

Mel: 27- Male, African American or Mixed –A complex individual, toughened by the streets, prison life, and a tainted past, he is Chris’s ride or die, by any means necessary. That is, until Chris’s new girlfriend and music success, drives a wedge between them. (Lead)

Actors must be comfortable with themes of homosexuality within the film.
