Before Doug Aitken’s ambitiously conceived “Station to Station” world premieres Sunday in the New Frontier section of the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, viewers can get a first look at the creative film project in the exclusive clip below.
In the summer of 2013, Aitken turned a train into a kinetic light sculpture that traveled from New York City to San Francisco in 24 days. Rolling into 10 stations during the journey, the art project set in motion a series of short films, each unique to its location and mix of creative participants. The end result is a feature film comprised of 61 one-minute short films, each one a part of a kaleidoscope of our evolving creative culture.
While the finished product has yet to be screened, the clip below teases a visually striking and formally daring project that could be the talk of Park City come Sunday afternoon.
