The network hasn’t officially renewed the hit Shondaland series yet (although we can assume an official announcement will probably come shortly), but the below promo pretty much seals the deal, doesn’t it?
If you watched last night’s season finale, you probably saw it, as I’m told that it ran during the broadcast. If not, watch it below.
But a renewal really shouldn’t be a surprise, and should in fact be expected (even though ABC hasn’t announced one yet), given that the series averaged about 9.5 million viewers per episode all season. It’s certainly not doing as well as Fox’s “Empire,” which has only gained strength as the season has progressed. But 9.5 million on average is a strong number in what is a very competitive, not only television, but overall entertainment landscape.
Unfortunately, it’s a series that I watched the first 3 episodes of, and then moved on, because it just didn’t hook me. I suppose I’m simply not a member of its target audience.
Watch the promo below, which is titled “We’ll Be Back Next Season.” Certainly doesn’t get any more blatant than that.
