Anna Kendrick to Perform at Oscars

Anna Kendrick will burnish the 87th Academy Awards’ musical luster with a special performance, joining previously announced performers John Legend, Common, Adam Levine, Jack Black and more.

Oscar producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron hinted at what to expect: “Out of the woods and on to the Oscar stage, Anna will be performing something special that is sure to be an ‘Only on the Oscars’ moment.” Does this mean she’ll be reprising her “Into the Woods” role as Cinderella? We’ll know when the Oscars air live from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday, February 22.

Seasoned movie musical star Kendrick has “Pitch Perfect 2” coming up later this year, and Broadway adaptation “The Last 5 Years” opening this weekend.

Longtime movie musical impresarios Zadan and Meron also tapped host Neil Patrick Harris to perform an original song-and-dance number penned by “Frozen” Oscar winners Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.

Golden Globe winners John Legend and Common will also perform their Oscar-nominated “Glory” from “Selma,” sure to be a big emotional moment on the Oscars telecast as it was on the Grammys over the weekend. Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine will perform the lovely, tuneful Oscar-nominated song “Lost Stars,” written by Gregg Alexander and Danielle Brisebois for the summer 2014 movie musical “Begin Again.”
