IFC Midnight Acquires Sundance Horror Film 'The Hallow'

IFC Midnight announced today from the European Film Market in Berlin it has acquired U.S. rights to Corin Hardy’s “The Hallow,” starring Joseph Mawle, Bojana Novakovic, Michael McElhatton and Michael Smiley. The film made its world premiere in the “Park City at Midnight” section of the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.

“The Hallow” is set deep within the darkness of a secluded forest in rural Ireland where ancient evil dwells. Feared by the nearby superstitious villagers as cursed creatures who prey upon the lost, their secrets have been kept from civilization and remain on their hallowed ground. But when a conservationist from London moves in with his wife and infant child in order to survey the land for future construction, his actions unwittingly disturb the horde of demonic forces.

The deal was negotiated by Arianna Bocco, SVP of Acquisitions and Productions for IFC Midnight, with WME Global and ICM Partners on behalf of the filmmakers. The acquisition represents the second Sundance “Midnight” title picked up by IFC Midnight this year, coming on the heels of the company’s purchase of JM Cravioto’s gritty revenge thriller “Reversal.”

No release date has been set.
