Jessica Williams Will Be the Future Host of 'The Daily Show' - According to 'Hot Tub Time Machine 2'

How timely! The distributor of Hot Tub Time Machine 2 – Paramount Pictures – released the below clip last night, as the Internet mourned “The Daily Show” host Jon Stewart’s announcement that his run is coming to an end, leaving an opening for some up-and-comer.

Naturally, speculation on who just might replace Stewart as host of “The Daily Show” has been dominating many off- and online conversations; although, if I were running Comedy Central, I’d probably lean towards putting the show to bed for good. It’s been Stewart’s for so long that I think he’d be very hard to replace. It just won’t be the same anymore. At least, from my POV.

That said… back to the clip from the time-traveling comedy, “Hot Tub Time Machine 2,” that was released last night.

In it, the main characters time travel to the year 2025, as they look up at a TV screen and realize that Jon Stewart is no longer host of “The Daily Show.” Instead, hosting the Comedy Central series is Jessica Williams!

Recall Williams was hired as the show’s very first African American female correspondent, in 2012, and is still very much a regular.

I hear that Williams is a fan favorite (for some) to take over as host of the show. I wouldn’t be surprised if we start to see social media campaigns in her favor. And maybe this “Hot Tub Time Machine 2” clip can help bolster her standing among those who are in contention for the job. Maybe… maybe not. But it certainly comes at an opportune moment!

“Hot Tub Time Machine 2” stars Adam Scott, Craig Robinson, Clark Duke, Chevy Chase and Gillian Jacobs. It opens in theaters on February 20.

The clip, which first appeared on Uproxx, is embedded below.
