Paula Patton Books Lead Role in ABC's Arms Dealing Drama Pilot 'Runner'

Again… black actors are in demand – on the small screen specifically.

Paula Patton has booked the lead role in ABC’s drama pilot “Runner,” which is based on the Turkish series titled “Son” – a “Traffic”-like project, but, instead of drugs, its focus is on arms dealing, and seen through the eyes of a woman lead.

Written by Michael Cooney, the ABC remake will center on Lauren Marks, whose seemingly perfect life is ripped apart by one simple twist of fate, and to uncover the truth, she must follow a trail of lies that takes her into the world of cartels and the illegal gun trade between the U.S. and Mexico.

Patton will of course play Lauren Marks.

Australian director Michael Offer will direct the pilot, and assuming it goes to series, this will mark Patton’s first-ever TV series, as a regular.

Up next for the actress, see her in the big screen adaptation of the game “Warcraft,” alongside Dominic Cooper, which is set to hit theaters in 2016.
