In this commercially minded Toronto 2014 premiere, they play married filmmakers who try to relive their salad days by befriending a twenty-something hipster couple played by Adam Driver and Amanda Seyfried.
Indiewire says “While We’re Young” is a “perceptive ode to getting old.” Variety calls the “under-your-skin comedy” “bright and ebulliently dynamic,” writing that Baumbach channels “Hal Ashby/Mike Nichols/Paul Mazursky …more in spirit than in style.” The Playlist says the film “laces rich thematic elements with wonderfully drawn characters to create a picture that’s as genuinely hilarious as it is thoughtful…”
Baumbach’s enthusiastically reviewed 2015 Sundance premiere “Mistress America,” starring muse and romantic partner Greta Gerwig, will also be coming up this year from Fox Searchlight.
A24 releases “While We’re Young” in New York and Los Angeles on March 27, 2015 and everywhere April 2015. Trailer below.
