As announced in Berlin’s European Film Market, The Weinstein Company will co-finance and distribute “The Man Who Made It Snow” in the US.
Jake Gyllenhaal stars in this biopic of notorious 80’s cocaine smuggler Max Mermelstein, who at the time was the only American alive ever admitted to the inner circle of the Colombian cocaine cartel. The screenplay, from Brett Tabor and Michael Kingston, is based on Mermelstein’s autobiography of the same name.
An unrecognizable Gyllenhaal built up 15 pounds of muscle for Fuqua as Junior Middleweight Champion Billy “The Great” Hope in “Southpaw,” which TWC has already slated for release later this year. (Take a look here.)
“The Man Who Made It Snow” is produced by Fuqua Films, IM Global, and Gyllenhaal.
