The Made in NY Media Center by IFP is holding a workshop called “The Art of Film Finance” on March 7. Emerging filmmakers, film students, producers and directors who are packaging projects together in NYC will be given the chance to hear from industry experts themselves, demystifying the process of the business side of film production.
The workshop is aimed at teaching filmmakers how to create a sustainable career in filmmaking by providing insight on how to navigate the worlds of production, sales, negotiation and finance to package their film and understand digital platforms for distribution. Speakers from companies behind films such as “Whiplash,” “Foxcatcher,” “Ten Thousand Saints,” “Adventureland” and “Land Ho!” will be featured, along with the agents and financiers behind films such as “Nightcrawler,” “Still Alice” and “Cake.”
“The Art of Film Finance” workshop will also feature panelists from companies such as Sony Picture Classics, UTA, Film Buff, VHX, Entertainment Partners, Archer Gray and Three Point Capital. European subsidy structures will also be examined, as the international chief of CNC in France will be in attendance to give details of a new international film fund they are launching which has $6.7 million to fund international co-productions.
