Here’s some fairly shocking news for those in the know: Faye Dunaway is reportedly writing a book about her experiences making the 1981 film “Mommie Dearest.” Publisher’s Lunch mentioned the project in a recent newsletter:
Academy Award winning actress Faye Dunaway’s recollections, stories and behind the scenes account of the making of one of Hollywood’s most iconic films, Mommie Dearest, to Julia Cheiffetz at Dey Street Books, by Alan Nevins at Renaissance (World).
Why is this a big deal? Because Dunaway infamously freaks out when it comes to even discussing the film, which was a critical and commercial failure that many felt significantly harmed her career (even though its since gone on to become a genuine camp classic beloved by many). Remember this voicemail message?
For whatever reason though, Dunaway seems to have calmed down and is ready to let the world know what really went down on the “Mommie” set… And we’ll certainly look forward to it as a future summer read.
