Tweetable Logline: An unambitious young writer attempts to escape his slacker surroundings for the great American unknown in this Austin independent film.
Elevator Pitch: Andy is an unambitious young writer stuck in Austin, Texas with a broken down RV and growing debt to his older brother. When his ASL Interpreter girlfriend leaves him for a hotshot Deaf guy, he wants to hit the road more than ever, so he checks into a facility that tests pharmaceuticals on volunteers in exchange for “leaving town money.” Here he meets Misty, a vibrant young woman with whom he makes a true connection. If Andy can just survive the study, he may have just found the co-pilot for the road of life he’s been looking for all along.

About the Film: “Here We Are” is inspired by the writer’s time spent living in Austin, Texas alongside other young, creative types trying not to slip through the cracks, as they struggle to hold onto their piece of debased American Dream that seems to have little use for them or their aspirations in the first place. And “the epic poverty of ambivalence” amongst “Generation Why?” Americans. We will be working with talented local Deaf actors and aim to show a side of the Deaf community that is underrepresented, in a way that features multi-dimensional characters while showcasing their individual talents and expression.
Current Status: Deep pre-production/casting.
