'Mad Max: Fury Road' Will Screen Out Of Competition At The Cannes Film Festival

Kids, dreams do come true. Among the movies we listed in the 20 Films We Hope To See At The 2015 Cannes Film Festival was George Miller‘s hugely anticipated “Mad Max: Fury Road.” Now, our team on the Croisette knows which movie they’ll be lining up for on the second day of the fest.

Organizers have announced that the Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, and Nicholas Hoult starring film will screen Out Of Competition on May 14th, one day before it opens worldwide. We presume this will be the World Premiere or perhaps the International Premiere of the film, as it will likely screen for press sometime before, and have the requisite red carpet treatment somewhere else for promotional purposes before it opens in cinemas. But it’s a splashy bow for one of the summer’s biggest movies and I wish I was in the Palais this year watching the mayhem unfold.

“Mad Max: Fury Road” opens on May 15th. Cannes runs from May 13-24.
