Netflix Picks Up Hannah Fidell’s ‘6 Years’

Netflix Picks Up Hannah Fidell's '6 Years'

One day after its world premiere at SXSW 2015, Hannah Fidell’s improvised coming-of-age romance “6 Years” has been purchased by Netflix

The film stars Taissa Farmiga and Ben Rosenfeld as a couple in their early twenties whose commitment to their relationship is tested when one of them receives an attractive job offer, and is thus forced to choose between love and career. Fidell has previously directed the features “A Teacher” and “We’re Glad You’re Here.”

In a SXSW interview with Fidell, the writer-director describes “6 Years” as “a film about a co-dependent, abusive relationship between a young couple.” She continued, “I love fucked-up relationship dramas (see: ‘A Teacher’), so the challenge of writing a film that was both relatable but also subversive was what initially piqued my interest.”
