Popcornflix, a free worldwide movie and TV programming service, today announced that it has acquired a selection of award-winning films from indie distributor Film Movement.
“We handpicked a diverse collection of films from various countries and cultures. We are excited to offer these quality films to our audience,” said David Fannon, Executive Vice President at Popcornflix, in a statement.
The collection features films from thirty countries and every continent, as well as several award winners. Acquisitions include Cannes Special Jury Prize winner “A Screaming Man” and Sundance Jury Prize Winner “Manito.”
Fannon said in a press release that streaming services should not only be limited to blockbuster hits.
“Viewers are also looking for new ways to view outstanding international cinema — wherever and whenever they want to watch,” Fannon said. “Popcornflix meets that demand.”
The ad-supported streaming service is available on multiple platforms, including: Roku, Sony PlayStation PS3 and PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, iOS, Android, Windows 8 and Samsung, Bravia, Panasonic and Google Smart TVs.
