Director Bill Pohlad and writers Michael A. Lerner and Oren Moverman twist the biopic genre by paralleling Wilson’s disorderly heyday with his eventual nervous breakdown and subsequent Stockholm syndrome-like relationship with the dubious Dr. Eugene Landy (Paul Giamatti).
