Kristen Wiig to Star in Lifetime Parody ‘A Deadly Adoption’ (UPDATED)

Kristen Wiig to Star in Lifetime Parody 'A Deadly Adoption' (UPDATED)

UPDATE (4/3/15): Less than 24 hours after the announcement of the project, Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell pulled the plug on the film.

Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell have filmed a Lifetime parody called “A Deadly Adoption” that will help celebrate the cable network’s 25 years in the TV movie business. Kept under wraps until now, the project will air on Lifetime.

Wiig and Ferrell play a well-to-do couple who invite a pregnant woman (Jessica Lowndes) to stay with them in the hopes that they can eventually adopt her baby. Things eventually go wrong, of course. “Adoption” is being described as “campy and fun and a contemporary wink at the genre.”

Rachel Lee Goldenberg, a director of actual TV movies like “Escape from Polygamy” and “Love at the Christmas Table,” will helm.

Until “A Deadly Adoption” debuts this summer, we can enjoy Wiig playing a fake Lifetime heroine on the “30 Rock” TV biopic “A Dog Took My Face And Gave Me A Better Face To Change The World.”
