Last weekend, word surfaced that Warner Bros. was angling for Phil Lord and Chris Miller to direct their upcoming DC Comics movie “The Flash.” And why not? The pair are not just one of the most successful directing pairs around Hollywood right now, but they consistently find fresh approaches to franchise material. It looks like Lord and Miller are getting involved, but up to a point….
The Wrap reports that Lord and Miller are coming aboard to write a treatment for “The Flash,” and that’s about it for now. No word if they’ll do the full blown script after that point, nor if they’ll direct. Given how many options the duo have around town, they can be choosy. But having already proved to WB what they could do with “The Lego Movie,” the studio is likely happy just have their fingerprints on “The Flash” any way they can, and might encourage Lord and Miller to stay on as producers.
“The Flash” will be led by Ezra Miller and opens on March 23, 2018.
