Here we go again. In the lead up to the Netflix-backed fourth season of “Arrested Development,” even the barest mention of the return of the show warranted headlines before anything was official. And it looks like we’re headed down that path one more time thanks to producer Brian Grazer, who promises that the Bluths ain’t done yet.
Dropping by “The B.S. Report” podcast with Bill Simmons, the awesomely haired producer revealed, “We’re going to do another 17 episodes. So, stay tuned for ‘Arrested Development.’ ” For whatever reason, Simmons didn’t ask any followup questions, and obviously, Netflix hasn’t announced anything, so this is all we have to go on. Which means there are plenty more questions than answers.
For example: will the entire cast return? Can schedules be worked out so the entire ensemble will actually interact again, instead of utilizing that one-character-per-episode structure? Can they please keep the episodes shorter this time? Can the show return to the high-water mark of seasons one through three? And moreover: do we actually need more?
Sad as it was to be canceled too early, “Arrested Development” also has the most perfect first three seasons of any show you can ask for. Maybe there is something to be said about just letting it rest. Anyway, check out the full podcast below and share your thoughts in the comments section. [Uproxx]
