'Super Troopers 2' Crowdfunding Campaign Zooms Past Zach Braff

Super Troopers 2” managed to raise more than $2 million on Indiegogo in just 24 hours. While Zack Braff raised $3,105,473 on Kickstarter for his film “Wish I Was Here,” “Super Troopers 2” has raised a stunning $3,423,543. And the campaign still has more than two weeks left to go, which means it still has a shot at surpassing the #1 most successful film crowdfunding campaign on any platform of all time, the “Veronica Mars” movie project, which raised $5,702,153.

“Super Troopers 2” has already jumped into the #1 spot as most successful crowdfunding campaign ever on Indiegogo, surpassing “Lazer Team” by Rooster Teeth, which raised $2,480,099. Meanwhile, the campaign for “Con Man,” also on Indiegogo, has raised $2,834,156 with two days to go, meaning it too has already eclipsed “Lazer Team.”

Since premiering at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival, “Super Troopers” from the comedy group Broken Lizard has been a cult hit. The film followed five Vermont
state troopers (Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter,
Erik Stolhanske) as they fought evildoers along the Canadian/Vermont border.

Production on “Super Troopers 2”
is slated to start later this year.

To fuel the second half of the campaign, Broken Lizard is offering up new campaign perks, including courtside seats at a Bulls playoff game in Chicago, invitations to join them in Denver on
4/20, a “21 year commitment” to godfather your unborn child, or
one of the actors actually fathering your child for a cool $25

“The bigger the budget, the more
explosions, car chases and shenanigans we get to add into the movie,” said Jay Chandrasekhar of Broken Lizard, in an announcement. “We’ve released over twenty new perks which are sure to raise some eyebrows,
and hopefully our budget.”

the new perks, Broken Lizard is offering contributors the chance to hang
out at the High Times US Cannabis Cup in Denver, CO, with tickets to
attend a live screening of “Super Troopers” (at 4:20 on 4/20), and
VIP invitations to the group’s “POTFEST 2015” party – a private event
where fans can come party with Broken Lizard while partaking in 100% legal
herbal remedies.

“If we reach, $10 million, we’re pretty sure we can
get Tom Cruise and Oprah in the film,” said Kevin Heffernan.
