You might think Antonio Barrera has a death wish. From “Patrolman P” director Ido Mizrahy, “Gored” is a portrait of Barrera, who has been impaled 23 times as a bullfighter. He is preparing to face the bulls once again in this documentary headed for the Tribeca Film Festival.
Rejected throughout his career and banished to the fringes of this brutal spectacle, Barrera is an underdog known to perform with reckless abandon, eager to confront death in his tragic quest for success. Now surrounded by a wife and children who need him, Barrera is caught off guard by a new desire to live for them.
This documentary on the controversial bloodsport from Motherlode Films and Roopstigo will screen at the fest with “Colin Kaepernick,” a short about a future NFL quarterback’s life-turning decision.
